Located in the peaceful village of Iden, just 5 minutes drive from Rye, our traditional country inn dates back, in parts, to 1107. Local Legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. It is also thought that there is a tunnel between the pub cellar and the church, although this has not been discovered, we do keep our eye out for the vicar turning up in the cellar!
Today, we serve homemade food, real ales, continental lagers, and have a superb wine list. We welcome both well behaved children & dogs. Enjoy great food in comfortable and relaxed surroundings, or stay in one of our spacious bed and breakfast rooms.
We have wonderful beer gardens for enjoying the summer, and a warm cosy snug with a wood burning fire for the wintery nights. All of our food is homemade. On a Sunday we serve a traditional roast featuring free range beef , we make a vegetarian nut roast too Roast dinner with all the trimmings £8.95 Please see our menu page for examples of our other choices.
The Bell at Iden is ideally located for walkers and cyclists, with many walks and cycle routes passing through the peaceful village of Iden
Dogs are welcome, we have set aside tables which can be reserved for dogs with their well behaved owners, please note that these tables get booked up during busy periods, please feel free to call us with your booking, and tell us your dog is visiting.
Nominated for the kennel clubs ‘open for dogs award’
